Surveillance camera footage from the area in Pune where a ‘drunk’ Audi driver crashed into the motorcycle of a Swiggy delivery executive, killing him within minutes, shows how the speeding car threw the victim several meters into the air and fled the scene.

One of the CCTV footage clips from a nearby building captured the exact moments. The alleged drunk driver can be seen crashing into a two-wheeler and injuring three people.

The driver doesn’t stop there and continues accelerating. When the victim Rauf Shaikh comes in front of the luxury car, he hits the two-wheeler and continues at high speed to escape the spot.

Security guards from nearby buildings and other passengers could be seen rushing to help the injured man, who the car owner left behind to bleed to death. Though he was rushed to the nearest hospital, doctors declared him dead.

According to the Pune Police, the incident took place around 1 am in the Koregaon area of ​​Pune.

The deceased has been identified as Rauf Shaikh. The accused, identified as 34-year-old Ayush Tayal, has been arrested, police said.

Police said the suspect, 34-year-old Ayush Tayal, fled the scene after the accident near Tadigutta in the Mundhwa area of ​​the city. They checked the footage from the local surveillance cameras and tracked him to his residence. They then arrested him from his residence in Hadapsar area.

“The car driven by Tayal hit Shaikh’s bike. The accused fled the spot but was later arrested after the police used CCTV camera footage to identify the car and then trace it with its details,” Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Pail said.

Tayal is a senior executive at a company in Ranjangaon MIDC and was sent for a medical examination to check whether he was drunk at the time of the accident, the official said.
