With projections made in most states across the country, ABC News has predicted that former President Donald Trump will win the high-stakes presidential contest against Vice President Kamala Harris. Early Wednesday morning, Trump secured enough Electoral College votes to run for a second presidency, including by flipping the key swing states of Georgia, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.

In addition to the presidential race, voters also went to the polls across the country on Tuesday and cast their ballots to decide who had control of Congress, state and local governments. Reporters from 538 and ABC News followed every step with live updates, analysis and commentary on the results. Follow our full election coverage below.

How Donald Trump won the presidency

In the coming months, ABC News and 538 will be doing a lot of analysis to figure out exactly how Trump won. After all, he could be only the second Republican presidential candidate since 1992 to win the national popular vote. That warrants not only introspection among Democrats, but also a lot of quality analysis. And Trump’s influence in swing states, while not surprising, also represents a new high for his electoral success.
