City Considers Eliminating Comptroller Position, Residents Furious

ST. LOUIS – A monumental change could be coming to the way the city of St. Louis does business.

On Monday night, the St. Louis Charter Commission discussed a plan to eliminate the city’s chief financial officer, known as the comptroller. All in an effort to make city government more efficient.

Current and former city employees have publicly expressed their opinions, criticizing Comptroller Darlene Green.

The city hopes to replace that office with a finance department, giving more power to the mayor and city council and streamlining city government.
