One dead, one seriously injured in wrong-way crash near Rapid City | News

RAPID CITY, SD – One person died and another was seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 90 near Rapid City Wednesday evening.

According to preliminary information, the accident occurred when the driver of a 2007 Mazda 3, traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes near mile marker 53, collided head-on with a westbound 2001 Ford F350. The driver of the Mazda was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the Ford suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported for medical care.

The names of those involved are being kept secret pending notification of the family. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the incident and details remain preliminary.
