Man arrested after allegedly fleeing traffic stop

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A Mobile man was arrested on drug charges after attempting to flee an early morning traffic stop, according to the Mobile Police Department.

Bobby Jermaine Grimes, 29, was arrested Tuesday, July 2 after officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle near Springhill Avenue and Hosfelt Lane around 12:54 a.m.


LOCATION:

Police said the driver, identified as Grimes, initially refused to stop but eventually stopped the vehicle near Cotton and May Streets and attempted to run on foot.

After a “short foot pursuit,” Grimes was arrested, according to an MPD news release.

He was taken to the Mobile Metro Jail on charges of second-degree possession of marijuana, attempted felony escape and use/possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office jail log.
