Man caught stealing over ,000 worth of items from construction warehouse: PBSO

A Royal Palm Beach man is accused of breaking into a construction warehouse and taking more than $3,000 worth of equipment and other items Sunday night.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) said that at 7:27 p.m. on June 30, a deputy on patrol noticed a blue Chevrolet pickup truck backed into a locked door at a construction equipment warehouse on Northlake Boulevard in West Palm Beach.

Upon closer inspection, the sheriff said he saw a washing machine, several large metal objects and loose hardware. Upon further inspection, the sheriff encountered Brian Carbone, 37, who was shirtless.

Carbone told the MP that he had been hired to sort chains, but the MP questioned him, saying that Carbone was not wearing the proper clothing for the job.

The officer was able to make contact with the owners of the storage lot. According to the arrest report, when the owners arrived, one of them confirmed that the personal belongings in Carbone’s truck belonged to his company because of its unique markings.

The sheriff’s office said that once Carbone was taken into custody, a key to a Kubota loader – a compact heavy-duty piece of equipment with a lift arm – was found in his pocket. The business owner was able to start the Kubota loader that belonged to his business using the key found in Carbone’s pocket.

The deputy searched Carbone’s phone and found a text message he had written to his girlfriend, indicating he was going to “do a hit,” the deputy said in the arrest report that he intended to commit a burglary.

During the investigation, the sheriff’s office said Carbone also stole items from two storage lots on the premises owned by a separate construction company.

According to the arrest affidavit, the estimated total of all items stolen was $3,775.

In the arrest report, Carbone’s occupation was listed under the heading “construction.”

Court records indicate Carbone faces two counts of burglary of an unoccupied conveyance, one count of petit larceny, theft of a fire extinguisher, criminal mischief ($1,000 or more) and possession of a burglary tool.
