“What we have done will never be done again”

The Golden State Warriors’ run to the top of the NBA is over, and one of the key pieces of the puzzle is gone. The Warriors said goodbye to All-NBA superstar Klay Thompson this week after the league opened free agency. NBA legend Steph Curry responded for the first time since the team made the move.

Curry hopped on Instagram and wrote a heartfelt message to his former teammate.

“I’m going to miss you, Klay Thompson,” Curry said.

He continued, “Even though we won’t finish the journey together, what we did will never be done again. I couldn’t have imagined a better journey with you and @money23green. It changed the entire Bay Area. It changed the way the game is played. Killa Klay at the center of it all.”

“Thanks for everything, buddy. Go ahead and have fun playing basketball and doing what you do. Splash Bros 4 life, buddy.”

Curry and Thompson won four NBA titles together with the Warriors (2015, 2017, 2018, 2022) and were part of one of the most dominant stretches in NBA history. They went 73-9 in 2016 but lost in a memorable seven-game NBA Finals to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

It’s been an incredible ride, but all good things must come to an end.
