Malaysia’s Good Vibes 2024 festival cancelled to honour king’s coronation

Organizers of Malaysian music festival Good Vibes Festival announced on Monday (July 1) that the event was cancelled “out of respect” for the upcoming coronation ceremony of Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar, Malaysia’s 17th king, which is scheduled to be held on July 20 at Istana Negara.

The cancellation came hours after Malaysia’s Central Agency for Foreign Artists’ Filming and Performance Applications (JK-PUSPAL) issued a statement asking organisers to reschedule concerts involving foreign artists on July 20.

Citing its guidelines, JK-PUSPAL said that organisers are prohibited from holding such concerts on dates deemed inappropriate by the government.

Good Vibes Festival 2024 was scheduled to take place on July 20 and 21 at Resorts World Awana in Genting Highlands, with a lineup including Glimpse Of Us singer Joji, South Korean singer-rapper Bibi and South Korean DJ Peggy Gou.
