Mount Jackson man dies after car crash in Shenandoah County

MOUNT JACKSON, Va. (WHSV) – A man is dead after a single-vehicle crash that occurred Tuesday morning on the 7000 block of Orkney Grade Road in Mount Jackson.

About 8:25 a.m. Tuesday, Daniel S. Painter, 42, of Mount Jackson, was driving a Ford Transit van eastbound on Orkney Grade Road. According to Virginia State Police, the car went off the right side of the road into a ditch and struck a fence.

The painter died at the scene and was not wearing a seat belt, VSP said, and a medical emergency is believed to be a factor in the crash.

VSP continues to investigate the crash.
