The MBTA has fired two more employees while investigating allegations that there were employees at Cabot Yard misuse of T sources and while you’re on the clock with private vehicles.

The T confirmed the additional layoffs on Thursday, causing the total number of dismissed employees up to six as the investigation continues. Seven employees remain on administrative leave from the South Boston facility, which is used to store and maintain Red Line vehicles.

De T announced last month that 10 of its employees are on leave in connection with the investigation into possible employee misconduct.

Details about the allegations and what exactly prompted the investigation remain scarce; General manager Phil Eng said The Boston Sphere last month, MBTA Transit Police investigated the “potential for criminal activity.”

The T confirmed last week that four employees “directly involved” in the alleged misconduct had been fired.

“We take these allegations very seriously because we have an obligation to the public we serve and to our workforce to ensure that every employee meets the highest standards of conduct,” Eng said in a statement at the time.

The MBTA also said it is working with its management teams to increase site visits and maintain a visible presence at all its locations.

“As a public body, it is our responsibility to be good stewards of public resources and use all possible resources to provide the best service to our riders,” Eng said last week. “We will continue to take all necessary steps to ensure accountability based on the investigation’s findings and to prevent a situation like this from happening again.”
