Motorcyclist seriously injured after being thrown from his bike during an I-70 crash

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) – A motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries after being thrown from his bike during a rear-end collision along I-70 in Kansas City.

The Kansas Highway Patrol indicates that around 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6, emergency services were called to the area of ​​westbound I-70 and 18th St. in Kansas City for reports of a two-vehicle collision.

When first responders arrived, they said they found Damon Neal, 20, of Harrisonville, Missouri, riding his 2018 Harley Davidson motorcycle along the highway.

Investigators noted that Neal came up behind a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado pickup driven by Alfredo Arteaga Delgado, 36, of Carlsbad, New Mexico, which he attempted to pass.

However, troopers said Neal’s motorcycle collided with the pickup bed, causing the pickup to slide to the left of the roadway and strike the inner barrier wall. Neal was thrown from the bike during the crash.

Deputies indicated that Neal, who was wearing a helmet at the time, was taken to the police station University of Kansas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Arteaga Delgado, who was wearing his seat belt, suffered minor injuries but was not taken to a local hospital.
