New recovery center aimed at helping men opens in Savannah

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – A unique addiction recovery center is now open in Savannah.

The Front Porch Recovery Center opened a few days ago with its unique mission to help men overcome their battle with addiction, but this is no ordinary recovery center.

This facility only accepts men and has a unique way of helping them recover from their battle with substance use and addiction.

“It’s a very robust program, with individual and group work,” said Katy and Glenn Parker, owners of the Front Porch Recovery Center. “We have a menu of individualized services that guys can look at and wonder if they’ll be attracted to any of those services.”

The facility on the edge of Savannah and Port Wentworth is off-road and out of sight – something Katy and Glen wanted to ensure for their patients.

The owners said privacy and avoiding disruption to nearby homes were paramount during the development phases – a battle with the City of Port Wentworth they said was not an easy one.

“The city didn’t want us here, the residents didn’t want us here,” the Parkers said. “It took about three years, but we’re finally here. No one can really see us, we’re tucked away here… trying not to disturb anyone.”

At the center, men can stay for a minimum of 30 days, with most programs lasting at least 90 days.

There are only six men at a time, which allows Front Porch to do a lot more one-on-one work and focus on what men need to go through their recovery process.

Anyone can inquire about what Front Porch does by visiting their website here.

From there you will have a consultation and you can also request a pre-admission visit.

“Please come in, call us, you can come see it, touch it and feel it for yourself,” the Parkers said.
