Putin said he believes Trump realizes that this issue is “very far from the reality we live in.”

“Russia does not make alliances with anyone against anyone else. Moreover, that would seem absolutely unrealistic with regard to China, with which we <...> have reached an unprecedented level of trust, cooperation and friendship,” the President said. .

“Countries like China and Russia that have hundreds, thousands (of kilometers) of common borders, a common history of coexistence almost in the same space, shared values ​​despite the difference in cultures – this in itself is a huge achievement, which we should use today and leave behind and strengthen these achievements for future generations,” Putin continued.

The US views China as its geopolitical opponent. Trump was one of the initiators of this approach to relations with Beijing during his first presidential term in 2017-2021. According to US news reports, the future US administration could offer Russia a partnership to break its strategic relationship with China.
