Prince William caught by tourist enjoying incredible pastime inside Windsor Castle

The Prince of Wales was spotted riding around the Windsor Estate on his electric scooter.

The 42-year-old eco-friendly prince was filmed driving through the castle gates on the electric model in a video shared by a fan on social media.

Last year, Prince William treated himself to the modern mode of transport, which can cost up to £6,000.

It is illegal to ride an electric scooter on public roads, but it can be used on private land, as William does.

The Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children reside at the Windsor estate at Adelaide Cottage, with William regularly hosting meetings at the castle.

There is a three-mile round trip from the Wales family home to Windsor Castle, a 30-minute walk.

Electric scooters have become popular in the UK in recent years

And William, who shares his father the King’s passion for the environment, will not want to make unnecessary car journeys.

Electric scooters can travel up to 10 km/h, making them a fast and environmentally friendly choice.

The future king used to ride a motorbike, but in 2017 he revealed he had put the hobby “on hold” after becoming a father.

Kate revealed her fears about William riding a motorbike, telling a member of the public in Dundee in 2015: “He keeps riding it. I’m still terrified when he comes out. I hope I can stop George from riding it.”

William isn’t the only member of the royal family looking for greener modes of transport. The king owns an Aston Martin DB6 that has been converted to run on bioethanol made from cheese and wine.

Newlyweds William and Kate used the car after their royal wedding in 2011.

Charles was also the first member of the royal family to own an electric car, the Jaguar I-Pace, purchased in 2018, was recently put up for auction.
