Just Janie – Cancelled – The Duck, Dunedin

Just Janie is a folk musician born and raised in the heart of Central Otago, and currently residing in Ōtautahi, Christchurch, where she pursues music and art full time.

In winter 2023, Janie travelled to the Blue Mountains in New South Wales to record with producers Rick Turnock and Abby Smith (Smith and Jones). The trio worked on an EP surrounded by birdsong in their studio set against the backdrop of the Australian bush. The summer months saw Janie embark on her first national tour to promote her first single ‘Love Letter to Myself’ from her upcoming EP. Her second track ‘Nostalgia’ was released on 29th March and the third single ‘Muse and Musician’ is set to be released on 5th July 2024.

Janie’s lyrical landscapes offer an intimate and raw window into her experiences of the world around her, love and loss, the disillusionment of rose-tinted memories, and what it means to write and perform her music. Drawing inspiration from the folk scene of the late 60s and early 70s, Janie’s music can be described as captivating and tender.
