LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A former self-described LSD kingpin pleaded not guilty Thursday to drug trafficking charges in Seward County.

Seth Ferranti, 53, waived his preliminary hearing in Seward County Court.

He is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

On October 29, a Seward County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped a pickup truck for driving on the shoulder of Interstate 80.

Ferranti was behind the wheel, according to court documents.

The deputy smelled marijuana and “became increasingly suspicious” that Ferranti was “involved in major criminal activity,” an arrest affidavit says.

So the officer searched the pickup and found 14 cardboard boxes in the bed of the truck.

The sheriff’s office said those boxes contained heat-sealed packages of marijuana weighing a total of 437 pounds.

Ferranti was arrested and taken to the Seward County Jail, where he remains in custody on a $500,000 bond.

During the investigation, the sheriff’s office discovered that Ferranti was not an amateur.

He was convicted in 1993 of distribution of LSD and in 2021 of delivery of a controlled substance, according to court documents.

Ferranti’s own website calls him an LSD queen and says he tried to fake his suicide to avoid capture.

After being released from federal prison in 2015, he began a career as a writer and filmmaker.

He wrote “White Boy,” a Netflix documentary about a drug dealer in Detroit in the 1980s. according to IMDB.

Ferranti’s arraignment in Seward County District Court is Nov. 18.
