Dalton Knecht’s Unfair Treatment Irks Podcast Host With ‘Fucked Up’ Bronny James Situation: ‘I’ve Never Seen Anybody Get A Multi-Year Contract…’

Dalton Knecht’s Unfair Treatment Irks Podcast Host With ‘Fucked Up’ Bronny James Situation: ‘I’ve Never Seen Anybody Get A Multi-Year Contract…’

The average salary for a second-round draft pick in the NBA is $3 million to $8 million. Last year, two second-round picks, Jalen Pickett (32nd) and Chris Livingston (58th), signed contracts worth $8.2 million and $7.6 million, respectively. This year, Bronny James landed a $7.9 million deal and the crowd suddenly went wild.

Why? Simply because he’s LeBron James’ son? Or is it because Dalton Knecht doesn’t get similar treatment? Or does Rich Paul deserve credit for getting his client, Bronny James, a favorable deal? All three statements are probably correct, depending on your perspective. But according to rapper Ma$e, the reason is simple: clearly shoddy work by everyone involved.

Ma$e is known to be a basketball fanatic and the current controversy surrounding Bronny James deserves his attention. To put the issue into perspective, the rapper discussed the matter on the “It’s like that” podcast with Cam’ron and Treasure Wilson. You know, I wish Bronnie the best. It’s just a complicated situation for a number of reasons that I don’t want to get into too much, but I think people are handling it the wrong way. You know, this is a better way to handle it. But I wish somebody’s child could have gotten to this point, just success. Ma$ea says.

“When you say somebody got a four-year, $7.9 million contract and a guy you drafted in the first round doesn’t have a contract yet, that’s where it gets bad. It’s not hate on Bronny. It’s just the way they do it. It makes people look bad. I’ve been playing basketball since I was about seven years old and I’ve never seen anybody get a multi-year contract with four points.” the 48-year-old said of Bronny’s contract assessment.

Do you think Dalton Knecht is being treated unfairly compared to Bronny James?

Maybe, but it’s complicated.

Knecht, however, signed a late deal with the Lakers that would be worth $18.4 million over four years, with $7.8 million guaranteed. For the guard, who averaged 21.7 points in college, the contract represents reasonable value.

With Bronny expected to have a roster spot next season, it remains to be seen if his contract value translates into his game. But Ma$e left nothing to the imagination in providing an in-depth assessment of Bronny’s first year in the league.

Ma$e Talks His Vision for Bronny James and the Lakers

With Bronny James on the roster and LeBron James extending his stay in Los Angeles, expectations are high for the father-son duo on the court. With JJ Redick at the helm and his previous praise for the 19-year-old point guard, it indicates that James Jr. will be spending more time on the court. Ma$e has just one piece of advice for him: “All you gotta do is not make mistakes and not get discouraged. Because you already have LeBron, you already have AD. Now there’s another guy they have that’s a shooter (D’Angelo Russell). So if you’re a killer and you can hit people, you can have a blast on this team, especially the shooters around you.”

“You’ve got Austin (Reaves), and then you’ve got the new white boy (Knecht). And I think one guy that everybody forgets is Doug Christie, Jr. (Max). I forget his name, but he’s a really nice guy. I think that’s his number 10 or something. This team is going to be easy to play on.” Ma$ea concluded.

The Lakers are looking to strengthen their roster in the transfer market, which should be an exciting time for them. But not everything that looks good on paper looks good on the pitch. Right now, the Lakers’ roster isn’t good enough, and Bronny James is definitely not the solution the Lakers were looking for.
