MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, Ohio –

Possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying concealed weapon: Bagley Road

A 27-year-old Cleveland man and a 30-year-old Cleveland woman were arrested around noon on June 26 after police found two digital scales, one with white residue, and a loaded 9mm pistol in their Nissan Pathfinder.

Police noticed the Pathfinder, with tinted windows, parked in the lot of the Red Roof Inn, 17555 Bagley. The man and woman got into the vehicle and began driving east on Bagley. Police followed them.

Police ran the Pathfinder’s license plate number and learned that the vehicle’s owner, the Cleveland woman, had a suspended driver’s license.

Police stopped the Pathfinder on the southbound on-ramp of Interstate 71. The Cleveland man was driving and the woman was a front-seat passenger.

The man said he did not have a driver’s license. Police asked the man and woman if there were any firearms in the Pathfinder. They said no.

Police asked the man and woman to exit the vehicle. Inside the Pathfinder, they found a digital scale in the center console and a second scale in the driver’s side door. The gun was located under the driver’s seat.

Dispatchers told police the man had been convicted of drug trafficking and possession in 2018, which disqualified him from owning a firearm.

The woman was served with a citation and was summoned to court because she knew the man did not have a driver’s license, but she allowed him to drive her Pathfinder. She was released and the man was taken to jail.

Driving with a suspended license: Bagley Road

A 23-year-old Cleveland man was summoned to appear in court around 11:30 a.m. June 23 after police caught him driving with a suspended license and carrying a firearm at Bagley.

Police saw the man’s Saturn Acura pull into the parking lot of the Red Roof Inn, 17555 Bagley. As the man backed into a parking space, police ran the car’s license plate and discovered it was expired. Additionally, the man was wanted for a traffic violation.

Police noticed a marijuana grinder in the cup holder of the Acura. They asked the man if there were any knives, guns or drugs in the car. The man said no.

The police asked the man to get out of the car and told him that since his license was suspended and the registration was expired, and the man was wanted, they would tow the car.

In the car, police found a loaded handgun, ammunition and a loose 9mm bullet. The weapon was confiscated.

A wanted 20-year-old Cleveland woman was arrested around 9 a.m. June 24 in Bagley, just west of Engle Road.
