Ronald Koeman is confident his Netherlands team can silence the deafening noise of Turkish fans in Berlin.

Turkish fans are expected to travel to the German capital in large numbers, with left-back Ferdi Kadioglu saying he expects the atmosphere to be similar to a home game in Istanbul. Koeman, however, insists he and his players will be ready for the occasion, largely because they have all experienced it before.

“I think many players, including me, have played against Turkish teams before and the atmosphere is always great,” Koeman said. “But if we keep the ball, they will become quiet.

“I hope it happens, but we have to stay calm, professional, play our game and be very focused. But they are a very enthusiastic opponent and they know how to keep the ball well.”

Defender Denzel Dumfries added: “We know what to expect in terms of the atmosphere but it’s nice.

“It’s probably harder to get along, but it’s important that we stay in sync with each other and stay accountable. In this tournament, we’ve also seen how great our fans are, and that’s really a huge boost for us as well.”

Koeman will be hoping his side progress in the competition after knocking out Romania last time out, with a possible semi-final against England on the horizon.

But the former Southampton and Everton manager – who confirmed Manchester City’s Nathan Ake is fit after his exit against Romania – says Gareth Southgate’s side’s struggles are an example of how tough the tournament can be.
