Former India batsman Manoj Tiwary believes it is completely wrong to put all the blame for Pakistan’s disappointing results on limited overs captain Babar Azam.

Azam captained the team in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where they were knocked out in the group stage.

The 29-year-old has always been blamed every time the men in green have lost and Tiwary feels that may have contributed to Azam’s turbulent run-in in recent months.

“Blaming him alone for Pakistan’s results is unfair,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Azam was Pakistan’s top run-scorer in the T20 World Cup, scoring 122 runs in four matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike rate of 101.66.

Pakistan started with defeats against the United States of America and India before securing victories against Canada and Ireland.

Despite a 2-2 record at the end of the group stage, it was not enough to allow the men in green to secure a place in the Super Eight.
