The 2024 MLB All-Star Game uniforms will feature a “design inspired by Texas’ Western heritage, with typography and graphics that exude the classic vibe of the Lone Star State but with a contemporary aesthetic.” Unveiled by Nike on Wednesday, the “The American League home jerseys will feature a sandy base, along with red sleeves and lettering, while the National League away jerseys will have a Navy blue base, with light blue sleeves and lettering” (MLB.com, 7/3)

This will be the fourth consecutive year that the All-Star Game will “feature All-Star jerseys” instead of players wearing “their regular season uniforms for the game.” The last three All-Star Games have “featured a team wearing a solid-color jersey over solid-color pants” and this year will be “no exception” with the NL “pairing dark navy pants with dark navy jerseys” and the AL wearing “tan pants with tan jerseys.” The jerseys spell out “‘National League’ and ‘American League,’ one word stacked on top of the other,” resembling the NL’s uniforms “for the first All-Star Game in 1933.”ATHLETICS, 7/3).

The criticism of the uniforms “wasn’t all bad.” Many pointed out “the similarities between the All-Star jerseys and the Negro League jerseys, something MLB has made an effort to honor this season.”DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 7/3).
