Lebanon, Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General: “Ready for the worst”

The deputy secretary general of the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah, Sheikh Naeem Qassemsaid that a full-scale conflict with Israel was not likely in the near future, but that the “Party of God” was prepared for the worst-case scenario.

“The possibility of a large-scale war is not likely in the near future, but Hezbollah is prepared for the worst eventualities,” Sheikh Qassem was quoted as saying by Iranian news agency IRNA.

Hezbollah’s deputy leader also called a ceasefire agreement in Gaza “very likely,” noting that Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid could exert considerable pressure on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
