FIFA Meets Silent Hill in New Gruesome Football Game FEAR FA 98 – GameSpew

Have you ever wondered what FIFA would be like if you had to kick someone’s head? After kicking zombies in the first Blood, we asked ourselves the question. And now, one developer has managed to bring that idea to life with FEAR FA 98, a PC game that mixes FIFA and Silent Hill.

It’s still early to tell, but we’re in total agreement with what we’ve seen. You thought Speedball 2 and Mutant League Football were bad? FEAR FA 98 kicks it up a notch, if its deliciously macabre teaser is anything to go by.

As the title suggests, FEAR FA 98 is similar to FIFA 98, but takes place on a dark, rusty Silent Hill-style pitch. The ball is a severed head that squirts blood every time you kick it, and the nets and markings are a bright shade of red.

But that’s not all. Developer Jacob Jazz tweeted that the full release will feature knives, summonable demons, and more. It’s not quite the “first survival horror football game”—that honor goes to Game Jam entry Football Horror . But it is the first to take the concept and put it into practice.

We’re particularly interested to see how its developer handles the game’s balance. They haven’t confirmed whether the game will feature a single-player mode or not, but it might be difficult to maintain fairness in the game where you can summon entities from beyond the veil. And can you also win by killing all of your opponent’s players, with the message “There was a team here. They’re gone now.”?

While FEAR FA 98 is still in development, Jacob Jazz is working on a full trailer, which will be released in the coming weeks. Fingers crossed that it will reveal some of the game’s most outrageous strategies. In the meantime, you can follow Jacob Jazz on Twitter and check out their other games on Steam.
