Cause of death released for woman found at desk in Tempe Wells Fargo office

TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) – The Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner has released the cause of death of the Wells Fargo employee who was found dead at her desk days after clocking in to work.

The medical examiner said she died of “sudden cardiac death in the setting of myocardial fibrosis,” which means scar tissue has built up in the heart. Medical experts say heart attacks are often the leading cause of the condition.

According to Tempe police, 60-year-old Denise Prudhomme, who worked at Wells Fargo’s corporate office, near Priest Drive and Washington Streetscanned into work at 7am on August 16th. Four days later, on August 20, Tempe officers then responded to reports on a “subject down” and found Prudhomme dead.

No signs of foul play were found. Authorities have not said who called police or who was the first to discover her behind her desk.
