Fiorentina ready to revive interest in Inter Milan in January

Fiorentina are set to rekindle their interest in Inter Milan-linked Genoa striker Albert Gudmundsson this summer.

This is reported in today’s print edition of the Milanese newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

It was inevitable that Genoa’s Gudmundsson would be one of the hottest names on the Serie A transfer market this summer.

The Icelandic international scored fourteen goals and provided seven assists for the Grifone last season.

And Inter led the charge to sign Gudmundsson, by all accounts.

The Nerazzurri have been heavily linked with the former AZ Alkmaar striker for months now.

As Gazzetta points out, Inter’s pursuit of Gudmundsson appears to be on the back burner for now. The team are also working on other priorities, while a deal for the Icelander would be financially difficult.

However, Gudmundsson is reportedly keen on joining Inter.

Meanwhile, Roma, Napoli and Juventus are also said to be targeting Gudmundsson.

And there is another Serie A club that had already tried to sign Gudmundsson earlier this year.

Fiorentina reportedly targeted the Genoa forward in the January transfer window. However, the Grifone have rejected their offer.

But according to the Gazzetta, this has not discouraged the Tuscan club.

The newspaper reports that La Viola are seriously considering a new transfer for Gudmundsson.

Fiorentina will have to overcome several major obstacles, including Genoa’s high financial demands and the player’s likely preference for Inter.

But Fiorentina are ready to try to sign Gudmundsson.

Meanwhile, reports Gazzetta, it is also not impossible that the 26-year-old could stay in Genoa this summer.

Naturally, the interest from big clubs in a transfer is tempting for Gudmundsson.

However, the Icelander seems happy at his current club. He has a good relationship with Grifone coach Alberto Gilardino.

Therefore, according to the Gazzetta, Gudmundsson could very well stay in Liguria.
