‘Nobody Would Say That In Detroit’: Skilla Baby Doesn’t Consider Eminem Detroit’s Greatest Rapper

On the recent episode of Keke Palmer’s podcast Baby, This is Keke Palmer, which aired on YouTube on Tuesday (July 2), guest Skilla Baby debunked the notion that Eminem is the greatest rapper to come out of Detroit. The conversation took place during Keke’s segment “But the Gag Is” and occurred 45 minutes into the show.

Skilla Baby Disagrees With Eminem’s Title That He’s Detroit’s Greatest Rapper

During the podcast episode, Keke Palmer asked Skilla Baby if Em was considered the best rapper in Detroit. She asked, “The best rapper in Detroit is Eminem, but is the joke true?”

Skilla Baby responded bluntly that while Eminem may be the most successful rapper in terms of sales, he doesn’t see it among the local Detroit community. He said, “I don’t know because if you think about numbers, Eminem is the best rapper in Detroit. But the thing is, nobody would say that in Detroit.”

Palmer responded by saying, “Now that’s tea, boo!”

Although Skilla Baby admits that Eminem had a good commercial career, he points out that in Detroit, there were other favorite rappers like Sada Baby, Tee Grizzley, 42 Dugg, Veeze, Big Kizz and Rocaine among others who also had their moments as top rappers.

A look back at Sada Baby’s thoughts on Eminem

As fans await Em’s highly anticipated 12th studio album, titled The Death of Slim Shady, his GOAT status has become a juicy topic of discussion once again. However, it has never stopped. In April 2019, Sada Baby, who is also a Detroit rapper, said in an interview that Eminem was not among his top five Detroit rappers because Em didn’t have a significant impact on his career.

He told Say Cheese Media: “I just talk about music and rappers and my Top 5 and my Mount Rushmore rappers from Detroit, Em is like an honorable mention.”

In addition to this point, he referenced 8 Mile, a film in which Eminem played himself and while Em may be famous around the world for many things, he pointed out that the Rap God hitmaker doesn’t resonate within his own community in Michigan.

Eminem, Houdini and Tobey’s latest singles from the upcoming album are now available.
