Ellen DeGeneres’ Last Stand: Trouble Selling Tickets, Four Shows Canceled in Cities Where Tickets Are Already Booked

Ellen DeGeneres is struggling to sell tickets for her Last Stand Up tour.

Four performances have already been cancelled without explanation. More may be planned.

In some cities, The Last Stand Up tour is sold out. But in many others, it is not and large blue stripes are visible, meaning there are plenty of seats available.

There are plenty of fans ready to attend Ellen’s concert on August 1 at Radio City Music Hall, for example, mainly in the orchestra. The same goes for her concert in San Francisco on July 20. One of her concerts was canceled.

The other canceled dates are, surprisingly, Seattle, Chicago and Dallas. There is another show in Seattle that is also struggling. But clearly there was no demand for a second show. In the case of the canceled shows, these were cities where expectations were perhaps too high to have two nights. One was enough.

In all of those cities, DeGeneres’ talk show enjoyed 17 years of ratings. But over the past two seasons, the ratings have plummeted as the host’s reputation has been damaged by accusations of a toxic atmosphere behind the scenes. DeGeneres, who made her money from the show and from real estate sales, eventually quit after 19 seasons.

DeGeneres is still a very talented actress, though. And while this tour feels a bit like Deborah Vance’s “Hacks,” I’m convinced she’s worth seeing live, especially if it’s really the last time.
