Spain provides update on FC Barcelona midfielder Pedri’s injury

Spain have provided fresh updates on Pedri’s injury after the Barcelona midfielder was forced off injured against Germany.

Pedri was initially diagnosed with a sprained left knee, and the national team have now provided a little more detail following further testing.

“Following the tests carried out on the international player Pedri González, the Canarian player has a grade 2 internal lateral sprain in his left knee,” reads a statement.

“The footballer will remain with his teammates until the end of the current training camp, which is focused on the Euro 2024 tournament.”

It is not yet known how long Pedri will be out for. Early estimates suggest he will be out for around 4-6 weeks, meaning he will likely miss the start of Barca’s season as well.

Barcelona begin their new La Liga campaign on August 17 with a trip to Mestalla to face Valencia.
