Shocking report reveals ‘conspiracy of silence’ by Biden allies

CV NEWS FEED // A shock report published by the left party New York Magazine alleges that President Joe Biden’s “elite” supporters engaged in a “conspiracy of silence” to hide from the public the truth about his declining mental capacity.

“The president’s mental decline was like a dark family secret to many elite supporters,” he wrote new York Washington correspondent Olivia Nuzzi in a July 4 article.

She recounted a scene from last Saturday, just days after Biden’s disappointing performance in the Atlanta debate, which prompted several members of his own party to express concerns about whether his campaign would continue.

Nuzzi wrote:

In a tent set up on the patio of a private home in suburban New Jersey, the president sat one-on-one with a small group of powerful Democrats and wealthy campaign donors, trying to reassure them that he was not about to drop dead or drop out of the presidential race.

The content of his speech matters less than his ability to express it coherently, even if much of what he says will not be entirely decipherable. As always, his remarks tend to slide into rhetorical pile-on, a problem that has worsened in the four years since he ran for president for a third time in 2020.

“(Biden) could begin a sentence loudly and clearly, then, halfway through, sound as if he were trying to recite two or three lines at a time, his individual words and syllables dissolving into an incoherent gurgle,” Nuzzi reported.

Later in her article, Nuzzi said that over the course of the year, she had repeatedly heard “the same concern” from “Democratic officials, activists and donors” supporting Biden’s reelection campaign: “Could (Biden) really do this for four more years? Could he even make it to Election Day?”

“These people all belonged to similar social strata,” Nuzzi noted, underscoring their apparent intention to keep the president’s mental problems secret:

They lived and frequented Washington, New York, and Los Angeles. They didn’t want to tell their stories. They didn’t want to denounce the facts. They wished they could look past what they knew and emerge victorious and relieved in November, having helped prevent four more years of Trump. What would happen next? They couldn’t think that far ahead. Their concerns were more immediate.

When they talked about what they knew, what they had seen, what they had heard, they were literally whispering. They were scared and horrified. But they were also overwhelmed. They needed to talk about it (even if it was not official).

Nuzzi wrote that there was “a comical overlap between the beliefs of Biden’s most liberal supporters and the beliefs of former President Trump’s most rabid and conspiratorial supporters.”

She claimed that many operatives of the left-wing elite were secretly in agreement with right-wing activists: “There must be a secret group of high-level government leaders who control Biden and who will soon implement their plan to replace Biden as the Democratic presidential nominee.”

Nuzzi’s report sparked a lot of reaction on X (formerly Twitter).

Christina Pushaw, a top aide to Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, asked, “Who is really running the country, and why don’t journalists seem interested in reporting this information?”

Similarly, journalist Jordan Schachtel asked, “Why didn’t he (Yes) Do your editors want this published in January, February, March, April, May or June?

Nuzzi responded to his critics on X: “I work on most of my stories for months.”

“This article is about a conspiracy of silence that has made people reluctant to speak out,” she continued in response to conservative radio host Erick Erickson, who asked a similar question to Schachtel’s.

“I’ve been looking for what I’ve heard since January,” Nuzzi added. “That’s how long it takes to do a story. The debate has changed people’s calculations about how candid they are, and even then, they’re not on the record.”

Commentator Charles CW Cooke noted on X that the conspiracy described by Nuzzi “extends far beyond Joe Biden.”

Among those who orchestrated this, he writes, “is Biden’s most likely replacement: Kamala Harris.”

“You can’t solve the problem by just replacing it and moving on. There has to be a political price to pay for all parties involved,” Cooke said:

The press claims not to know. If so, then the White House – including Kamala Harris – has successfully withheld vital information about the president from the media. What does the media, which considers itself sacred and crucial, intend to do about this?
