CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Illegal fireworks injure two Berkeley teens

BERKELEY, Calif. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) – Illegal fireworks injure two teenagers during Fourth of July celebrations in Berkeley, Calif.

Cellphone video shows smoke from the explosion as teenagers scatter and scream for help.

A witness said the fireworks did not appear to work after they were lit. That’s when the teen allegedly grabbed the fireworks and they exploded in his hand.

Neighbors say the teenager who injured his hand was a high school football player.

A second teenager was slightly injured because he was too close to the explosion and did not go to hospital.
