UPDATE: Search continues for man who fled traffic stop in rural La Salle Saturday | 103.9 WLPO

The search for a man who fled police outside La Salle Saturday shifted this afternoon to the city’s Rotary Park. A bloodhound and La Salle County sheriff’s deputies were seen on the east end of the park around 3 p.m. Others were seen on a hill overlooking the inside of a barn overlooking the Troy Grove asphalt.

The man being sought is believed to be Austin Moon of Littleton, Colorado, although that has not been confirmed by the sheriff’s office. Moon was arrested in 2022 for arson in Wheat Ridge, northwest of Denver.

Apparently, around 4 a.m. Saturday, Moon was stopped by police on I-80 near East 5th He was on Troy Grove Blacktop Road, known as Troy Grove Blacktop, when he fled. Moon is described as a white male, 5’10”, 140 lbs, with a “moon” tattoo on his left cheek. He was wearing a white shirt and light-colored jeans. Moon was unarmed.

As of 5 p.m. Saturday, a sheriff’s office sergeant said the search will continue. It’s unclear where it will continue. La Salle police and state police are assisting. If you spot Austin Moon, you should call 911.
