(The Center Square) – President-elect Donald Trump announced his new chief of staff on Thursday.

Trump released a statement appointing Susan Wiles, his campaign manager, as his White House chief of staff, a powerful role that will give Wiles enormous influence in shaping the new administration’s personnel and policies.

“Susie Wiles just helped me achieve one of the greatest political victories in American history and was an integral part of my successful 2016 and 2020 campaigns,” Trump said. “Susie is tough, smart, innovative and universally admired and respected. Susie will continue to work tirelessly to Make America Great Again.”

Wiles would be the first female White House chief of staff in American history.

“I have no doubt she will make our country proud,” Trump added.

Wiles helped lead Trump’s campaign to a landslide victory this week, boosting the popular vote by more than 4 million votes and projecting Trump to surpass 300 electoral votes.

Vice President-elect JD Vance praised the choice of X.

“This is great news. Susie was a tremendous asset to President Trump during the campaign and will be a tremendous asset in the White House,” Vance wrote. “She is also just a very good person. Forward!”
