NEWLY ELECTED IRANIAN PRESIDENT PROMISES UNITY AND COOPERATION IN POST-ELECTION MESSAGE

ANKARA, July 6 (Bernama-Anadolu) — In a post-election message released on Saturday, newly-elected Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that citizens’ cooperation is essential to navigate the difficult path ahead, pledging his unwavering support for unity.

Anadolu Agency reported that in a statement, Pezeshkian said: “Dear Iranian people, the elections are over and this is just the beginning of our cooperation.

“The difficult path ahead will not be easy without your company, your empathy and your trust,” he added.

The newly elected president said: “I extend my hand to you and I swear on my honor that I will not leave you alone on this path. Do not leave us alone.”

Pezeshkian beat his conservative opponent, Saeed Jalili, a former chief nuclear negotiator and head of the top security body, by a margin of 2.7 million votes in results announced early Saturday.
