The mythological name of the daughter of Kitty Spencer, niece of Princess Diana

Let’s rewind a few months to March 2024, when Princess Diana’s niece Lady Kitty Spencer shocked everyone by announcing that she had secretly welcomed a baby with her husband, Michael Lewis. She only shared a small glimpse into her life as a new mom, but didn’t share any details about her baby. However, aunt Lady Eliza Spencer let it slip a bit when she commented under the post, saying, “My perfect little niece 🥰😍🩷.”

After that, we didn’t hear much from the new family of three. Until now, when Kitty not only confirmed that she had welcomed a baby girl, but also shared her cute name!

Athena is a magical and powerful name, and we’re so glad Kitty and Lewis gave it to their daughter. For those who don’t know, Athena is a Greek name from mythology, based on Athena, the goddess of wisdom and war.

However, according to Nameberry, the actual Greek meaning of the name is simply “from Athens.” It has seen a surge in popularity in the United States, ranking around 76 out of 1,000; and many celebrities have also named their child Athena.

Tina Fey named her daughter Penelope Athena as her middle name, as did Dave Bautista who named his daughter Athena. In addition to Bautista, boxer Tyson Fury, French model and actress Laetitia Casta, and Alice + Olivia creator Stacey Bendet have all named one of their children Athena.
