Ethan Page Reveals How WWE Offer Went, He Thought It Was Fake

Ethan Page made his NXT debut back in May, shocking fans after his departure from AEW after three years with the company. Page recently spoke about joining WWE and how the deal came together, noting that he initially thought it was all a joke during his talk on the Talk ‘n Shop podcast.

“I got a random phone call during a layover and I was like, ‘This isn’t real.’ They said, ‘Yeah, this is real, here’s the offer, does that sound good to you?’ I said, ‘Yeah,’ and they hung up. Then someone else called me right after and said, ‘Did you just talk to so-and-so?’ Yeah. ‘Okay, we’re going to need this, this, this, this, this, this, and then we’re going to send you all of this.’” I was like, ‘Wait a second, was that a real phone call that just happened? It was me coming back from Winnipeg to work for Sami Callihan in Dayton, Ohio. I had to fly to Detroit and then get in my car and drive three hours and I was dreading it. Then I went to do a show and I had to keep it a secret and I got to see all the boys before I left, a bunch of IMPACT guys were there that I got to see. It was cold and it was sudden, it was crazy.

Page then attempted to win the NXT Championship early in his career, but failed. He recently spoke about how different the environment is between NXT and AEW.
