NEET UG 2024 Supreme Court Hearing LIVE: The Supreme Court will hear a batch of petitions on Monday (July 8) relating to the controversial National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG 2024) medical entrance examination. A bench comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra will hear a total of 38 petitions related to the examination.

Meanwhile, the Centre and the NTA have told the Supreme Court that cancelling the NEET would jeopardise the future of lakhs of honest candidates in the absence of any evidence of large-scale breach of confidentiality. The Education Ministry and the NTA have filed separate affidavits opposing the pleas seeking cancellation of the exam and re-examination.

The Union Education Ministry and the NTA filed separate affidavits in the Supreme Court, opposing the pleas that sought scrapping of the exam, a retest and a court-monitored inquiry into the entire gamut of issues involved.

The NEET results were announced on June 4 and controversy erupted over the issue of concessionary marks awarded to candidates. A total of 67 candidates scored a perfect 720 marks, most of them on concessionary marks. Following the controversy, the NTA removed the concessionary marks awarded to candidates and conducted a fresh NEET.

The Re-NEET was held on June 23 and the revised rank card was released on July 1.
