Mumbai rain updates: Trains cancelled, BEST buses diverted; schools on holiday | Details | Latest India News

Mumbai, India’s financial capital, and its suburbs witnessed heavy rains overnight, leading to widespread flooding, diversion of BEST buses and cancellation of several trains on Monday (July 8). Suburban train services, especially those of the Central Railway, were running at a slow pace.

The Pune-Mumbai Deccan Queen, one of the main trains between the two cities, was also cancelled for the day due to heavy rains. Follow Mumbai Rain Live Updates

Latest updates on rains and train disruptions in Mumbai:

  • The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said Mumbai recorded over 300 mm of rain at various places in six hours from 1 am to 7 am on Monday.
  • Heavy rains in some low-lying areas caused flooding and disruption to commuter train services.
  • The BMC said heavy rains are expected on Monday as well.
  • In order to avoid any inconvenience to students, a holiday for the first session has been declared for all government and private schools and colleges in Mumbai (BMC region). The decision regarding the next session will be announced after reviewing the situation, the BMC said.

2) 11010 (PUNE-CSMT)

3) 12124 (PUNE DOCTORS MANAGEMENT CENTRE)

4) 11007 (PUNE-CSMT DECCAN)

5) 12127 (CSMT-PUNE INTERCITY EXPRESS) Train services, however, resumed on the Central Line at Sion and Bhandup stations after rainwater receded.

Mumbai Weather: BEST buses diverted

Due to the rain-induced waterlogging in Mumbai, many BEST buses have been diverted from their regular routes, the bus operator said. Here is the list:

Places where flooding is observed in Mumbai

  • Pedestrians and vehicles could be seen crossing heavily flooded streets at King’s Circle in the rain in Mumbai. “My car is stuck on the road. There is no point in blaming the government for the rains. The government is doing its job,” a commuter told news agency ANI.
  • Heavy rains in Mumbai have caused waterlogging on railway tracks at Vidyavihar station.
  • Due to heavy rains in Mumbai last night, heavy traffic is being observed on the Western Express Highway near Vile Parle.
