Rob Reiner Calls on President Joe Biden to Quit the Race and End His Campaign

Rob Reiner has joined the list of prominent Democrats calling on President Joe Biden to withdraw from the race.

On Sunday, the actor-director posted on X (formerly Twitter): “It’s time to stop messing around. If the convict wins, we lose our democracy. Joe Biden served the United States with honor, decency and dignity. It’s time for Joe Biden to resign.”

Reiner is the latest prominent Hollywood Democratic backer to call on Biden to resign, following Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings, Damon Lindelof and Abigail Disney. Ari Emanuel also expressed frustration with the president after his widely criticized performance in the June 27 debate against former President Donald Trump.

Reiner’s post comes a week after he hosted a campaign fundraiser at his Brentwood home, which included Vice President Kamala Harris. At the June 29 event, Harris defended Biden, saying it wasn’t his “finest moment,” according to media reports. However, she argued that Trump is “a threat to our democracy” and that “none of that changed because of one day in June.”

On Sunday, Biden was campaigning in Pennsylvania, where the 81-year-old joked about his age (“I know I look 40”) and told supporters, “I’m honest to God, I’ve never been more optimistic about the future of America if we stick together,” according to the news site. Associated Press.

Other prominent Democrats in Washington are divided over whether Biden should drop out of the race, with some calling for him to step down and others saying he should stay.
