FC Barcelona star Pedri responds to Toni Kroos’ classy message

FC Barcelona and Spanish club star Pedri made a public response on Sunday to the recent message sent by his German counterpart Toni Kroos.

For those who missed it, the retiring Kroos sent a message of apology to Pedri on Saturday.

It comes after a challenge from the 34-year-old early in Spain’s Euro 2024 clash with Germany forced Pedri out of the action prematurely.

Furthermore, the 21-year-old could now be sidelined for an extended period of time.

After the match, as part of his retirement message on social media, Kroos did not fail to contact Pedri:

“It’s always very important to me: apologize and get well soon, Pedri! Logically, it was not my intention to hurt you. Get well soon and good luck. You are a great player.”

Kroos’ message fell on deaf ears among many Barcelona fans, who made clear their frustration with a player who will be remembered as a modern-day great at arch-rivals Real Madrid.

For Pedri himself, however, the feeling is quite different.

In her own Instagram post on Sunday, the midfield starlet thanked Kroos for his kind words, before hailing the German on his glittering career:

“Thank you Toni Kroos for your message. This is football and these things happen. Your career and your achievements will remain forever etched in our memories.”
