Manchester City’s players will soon be reunited ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Those not currently in international action are awaiting the return of their team-mates, with several City stars still competing for their countries at Euro 2024 and the Copa America.

Phil Foden, Kyle Walker and John Stones reached the Euro 2024 semi-finals on Saturday after a penalty shootout victory to end Manuel Akanji’s tournament, while Rodri and Nathan Ake also still have a chance of glory.

Meanwhile, Julian Alvarez helped Argentina reach the last four of the Copa America and they will face Canada for a place in the final of the competition.

Bellingham’s move spotted

It was a devastating end to Euro 2024 for Akanji after seeing his penalty saved by Jordan Pickford and England progress to the semi-finals.

The City defender was seen being consoled by Jude Bellingham after the game, with the pair sharing a chat before swapping shirts.

It was not the first time this season that Bellingham had prevailed on penalties at the expense of the Swiss star, having knocked City out of the Champions League last season in similar circumstances.

Walker’s Praise

While Akanji was in despair, Kyle Walker was pleased to have helped keep England’s hopes of a title alive.

The 34-year-old played all 120 minutes of Saturday’s clash and has featured in every Euro game so far.

Taking to Instagram to celebrate the latest result, Walker wrote: “There’s nothing like a penalty shootout. Looking forward to the semi-final, let’s keep going. Thanks for your support today.”

Leaving a comment on the post, former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jermaine Jenas praised the full-back with a huge compliment. “The best right-back of all time in England… think about it, mate.”
