Inspired by ‘Iron Man’, Chinese Man Uses Magnet to Remove Metal Shards from His Leg

Inspired by the Iron Man A Chinese superhero used magnets to remove metal shards embedded in his thigh, but ended up in hospital. The daring attempt by the man, nicknamed Jiang, amused many social media users in China, according to a report in The South China Morning Post (SCMP) newspaper. This scene appears in the first Iron Man film in which Tony Stark, who later transforms into a superhero, is attacked while traveling in a military convoy. Metal shards are embedded in his chest, which he removes using an “electromagnet”.

A similar situation occurred with Jiang, who was injured in an industrial explosion in Wuhan, Hubei province, the report said. SCMP report.

The blast sent shrapnel flying, some of which lodged in Jiang’s thigh. A video he posted on social media showed holes in his flesh where the shrapnel struck.

However, instead of going to the hospital, Jiang followed the superhero and tried to extract the shards with a powerful magnet.

What he forgot is that even in the world of fiction, Iron Man finally undergoes surgery.

His solution only made his pain worse, eventually forcing him to seek emergency treatment at Wuhan’s Puren Hospital.

A team of doctors performed microsurgery and successfully removed four metal fragments and repaired damaged muscles, ligaments and nerves.

Dr. Peng Hanshu warned people against copying Jiang.

“In such accidents, do not try to handle the situation yourself. It is recommended to immediately seek medical attention at an appropriate health facility,” he said, as quoted by SCMP.

But Chinese social media users were amused by Jiang’s audacious attempt.

“If this method worked, hospitals would go bankrupt,” one user said.

“The human body is not like cardboard or wood. Flesh closes and heals itself. It won’t stay open so you can use a magnet. Watching too many TV shows can disrupt reality,” another commented.
