Angel Reese Has a Special 3-Word Message for Candace Parker After Her 13th Consecutive Double-Double

She did it! Congratulations to Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese, who surpassed legend Candace Parker with her unwavering determination. In today’s game against the Seattle Storm, Reese recorded her 13th consecutive double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds. With this feat, she easily surpassed Candace Parker’s record of 12 consecutive double-doubles. However, the 22-year-old had nothing but praise for the three-time WNBA champion.

When asked if she was the one to break Parker’s record, Angel gave a touching acknowledgement to the WNBA great, saying: “She’s the GOAT. I mean, I’ve had conversations with her, her family, her mom. I talked to them before I even came to Chicago and I’ve already built that relationship. I’ve always respected CP, CP3 and I even try to take some things from her game and try to add them to mine. Just being able to be nominated alongside an incredible player like that will always be special to me.”

It was just last week that Reese made history by recording her 10th straight double-double with 10 points and 16 rebounds against Minnesota and surpassing Candace Parker.

Parker had nine consecutive double-doubles at the end of the 2009 WNBA season. She then extended that streak to a 12-game double-double at the start of the 2010 season. Now, 14 years later and one week apart, Angel Reese has raised the bar.

In those 13 games, the Sky went 5-8 while Reese maintained his double-double. Today’s record was set when Reese took the lead for a third-quarter layup and ended up making history.

By that point, she had already reached 11 points and 11 rebounds, but she had no intention of stopping. So she finished the game with 17 points, 14 rebounds and 4 significant steals for the Sky. With an average of 13.9 points, 1.9 assists and 1.4 steals, Reese leads the WNBA with 11.9 rebounds.

But Reese had already turned heads before the game with his elegant walk down the tunnel.
