Iranian military warns ‘pro-Western’ President Pezeshkian amid Hezbollah-Israel conflict: ‘Stay out of business’?

The Iranian military sent a message to newly elected President Masoud Pezeshkian on July 7. The chief of staff of the Iranian armed forces, Major General Baqeri, said the military was “ready to cooperate” with the new government. A similar message was issued by a senior Iranian military commander, Major General Mousavi. The military messages appeared to contain a military warning. The statement of “willingness to cooperate” suggested that the military had chosen not to do so in the future.
