Pulis surprised by a fake phone call

West Brom manager Tony Pulis was the target of a phone call this week from someone claiming to be Bolton manager Neil Lennon. Northern Ireland midfielder Blain Morrison, who plays for Limavady United, convinced Pulis he was speaking to Lennon on the phone. The conversation, which was recorded and posted on YouTube, involved Morrison asking for a loan move for Gareth McAuley, which the Welshman turned down. “Gareth plays every week, he’s a good guy,” Pulis was heard telling him, before adding that the centre-back was “fantastic”. The former Crystal Palace boss then recommended Eagles defender Paddy McCarthy to “Lennon”, telling him to “keep in touch” at the end of the call. Morrison told BBC Northern Ireland: “I thought the call would last a few seconds and I didn’t expect it to last much longer. I hope Tony Pulis won’t be offended and will see the funny side of it and take it in the right spirit.”
