A Japanese PC retailer has started selling a rather unique and interesting new computer. Oliospec has released a silent AMD Ryzen AM5 PC (thanks Videocardz), which will be available starting July 8th. It’s definitely targeting a more niche market. It’s not suited for a gaming PC, as even the best silent PC case can’t compete with something without moving parts. That’s because the Steacom FC8 doesn’t have any PC fans inside and opts for a more passive cooling design thanks to the case it’s chosen.

But the specs aren’t aimed at gamers, but rather at those looking for high CPU performance without big graphics needs, a good choice for multimedia or more casual use. Unlike the more recently announced ROG NUC, this PC doesn’t have a dedicated graphics card, opting instead for the GPU integrated into the processor. The heat dissipation requirements of modern components make it difficult to do otherwise, so it’s not advisable to do so beforehand, but the efficiency improvements of the AM5 are clearly a good opportunity to try it out.

The case itself has been around for almost ten years now, but this is probably one of the most modern editions offered as a pre-built system.

The case is made entirely of aluminum and has fins on the sides to provide the largest possible surface area for heat dissipation. Able to accommodate an ITX motherboard, it offers an ASRock B650 board and fits a Ryzen 8000G processor. It also has 32GB of DDR5 memory running at 6000MHz, which ensures the system has the best possible performance in such a small chassis, but can be expanded up to 96GB at any given time in both slots.

It also has an m.2 NVMe SSD as a boot device with a 1TB Crucial pre-installed, with the possibility of expansion but only with 2.5-inch SSDs. On top of that, you have a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port, plenty of USB ports, and an HDMI 2.1 connector. This is for the integrated graphics present on the processor, as you won’t be able to fit a full GPU into the 16x free on the card.

For CPU cooling, it has a heatsink directly connecting it to the case itself. With the default temperature setting of 75 °C, the company claims that even under load, it will be safe to run. It also doesn’t need too much power as it comes with a 108W adapter, making the compact 240 x 250 x 100mm PC quiet and energy efficient if you have a good use case. It costs 162,8000 yen, or around $1,010 if that interests you.
