NOPD Announces Preliminary Crime Statistics for June 30-July 6, 2024

The following is a weekly report on citywide crime statistics compiled by the NOPD Analysis Unit for the period June 30 through July 6, 2024.

Notable arrests made

During the week mentioned, the NOPD also made the following notable arrests:

• On July 1, 2024, Northwestern Police arrested Jerben Albarec (Black male, DOB: 06-02-2007), Joshua Aviala-Bonifacio (Black male, DOB: 05-21-2005), and a 15-year-old Black juvenile in connection with a homicide investigation that occurred on June 30, 2024, in the 700 block of Saint Peter Street. The suspects were each charged with second-degree murder and attempted armed robbery.

Arrests for possession of firearms (arrests made under LA RS 14:95 and sub-articles)

So far this year, Northwestern Police have made 306 arrests for illegal firearm possession. That’s a 37 percent decrease from the 483 arrests made during the same period in 2023.
