Thousands of revelers dressed in white and red scarves filled the city’s main square yesterday and this morning – only to rush alongside raging bulls while avoiding their deadly horns.

Dramatic footage shows the angry bulls chasing the thrill seekers as they took part in an adrenaline-fuelled race.

The bulls can be seen pushing their way through the crowd and hitting people as they pass.

A person, who slipped and fell to the ground, was knocked down by the fighting bulls.

Others were thrown into the air as they tried to escape the beasts’ anger.

The local government said a 37-year-old Spaniard was brutally beaten by large bull horns during the traditional event but was later released with minor injuries.

Several other people, including a 54-year-old man from New York, were seriously injured after being struck in the shoulders, face and head during the fast race.

A man was seen being carried away on a stretcher after being seriously injured in the harrowing incident.

Popular for its bullfights, the San Fermin festival is a week-long event held in Spain that attracts thrill-seekers from around the world.

Every morning, hundreds of people embark on a dangerous 850-meter race, trying to outrun – or at least avoid – lumbering fighting bulls through the narrow streets of the city center.

Horror moment: Fans gored and thrown by raging bull in bloodbath that leaves two dead and eight injured

During the intense “running of the bulls,” which lasts less than three minutes, the runners try to get as close as possible to the animals as they sprint towards the Pamplona bullring, where the bullfights take place in the afternoon.

The bulls that run every morning are killed in the afternoon by professional bullfighters.

The race became world famous after being immortalised by American writer Ernest Hemingway in his novel The Sun Also Rises in 1926.

Dozens of people are injured each year, but most of these injuries result from falls or being trampled by animals.

To date, 16 deaths have also been recorded since 1911, the last one being in 2009.

The incident comes after dozens of bullfighting fans were injured and thrown into the arena during a bloodbath at a festival in March.

Two people died and eight were seriously injured in the terrible bullfight that took place in Arjona, Colombia.

Horrific footage shows hundreds of would-be matadors entering the arena to test their mettle as people in the audience torment the bull by throwing anything they can get their hands on.

Driven mad by the taunts, the bull is seen charging a man and grabbing him by his horns – spinning him through the air like a rag doll.

The bull then flips him onto his back and he crashes to the ground as the bull roars towards another target.

In another clip, a man is seen desperately trying to outrun the bull, but is caught in a violent charge, knocking him heavily to the ground.

It comes after the so-called ‘Messi of the Matadors’ was brutally gored by a rampaging 1,000-pound bull.

Shocking footage showed the beast charging at Andres Roca Rey, 26, before smashing him into barriers and throwing him into the air.

Famous Peruvian bullfighter Roca Rey has been rushed to hospital with multiple injuries following the horrific incident at the Santiago de Santander fair in Spain.

He suffered injuries to his neck, face, right thigh and left knee, the worst of his eight-year career.
