Shocking statistic revealed after New York Mets refuse to play in All-Star Game

It’s safe to say that at least two New York Mets stars have been left off the National League All-Star team.

Outfielder Brandon Nimmo and shortstop Francisco Lindor were left off the National League All-Star roster despite both having strong seasons after slow starts.

Nimmo is second among National League outfielders in fWAR with a 2.8 mark and Lindor has a 3.5 fWAR. As SNY pointed out, Nimmo, Lindor and Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Christian Walker are the only three hitters in the league who are in the top 15 in the National League in WAR and have not been selected to the All-Star team.

Walker is having a breakout season in Arizona with 22 home runs, 64 RBIs, a .268 average and an .853 OPS. He has also hit five home runs in his last seven games but has yet to be selected to the All-Star team.

Back with the Mets, Nimmo was actually second in WAR among NL outfielders heading into the 2022 All-Star break, but was also left off the All-Star team that year.

Lindor joined the Mets ahead of the 2021 season when New York acquired him in a blockbuster deal from the Cleveland Guardians. He put up big numbers offensively during his tenure in Queens and also played Gold Glove-caliber shortstop. However, he surprisingly didn’t make the All-Star team or win a Gold Glove with the Mets.

The Mets’ only All-Star this year is first baseman Pete Alonso, who has 18 home runs but only a .789 OPS, which is low compared to his career average of .860. Alonso will be competing in the Home Run Derby as he seeks his third title in the competition.

Nimmo and Lindor could still make the All-Star team as alternates. But so far, they’ve been surprisingly snubbed.
