Closures and cancellations announced for Tuesday following Hurricane Beryl

Hurricane Beryl caused severe damage in parts of the Houston area Monday morning.

Several school districts and other businesses and agencies have announced closures for Tuesday.

Closed on Tuesdays

Alief ISD

Due to Tropical Storm Beryl, hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses in and around the Houston area, including those in Alief ISD, are without power. In order to ensure the safe return of our students and staff, we will remain closed on Tuesday, July 9. This will allow power companies to restore power and allow our staff to safely assess any damage that may have been done to their homes. Stay safe and we will continue to keep you informed every step of the way.

Cleveland Independent School District

Due to the impacts of Hurricane Beryl, all Cleveland ISD campuses and facilities will be CLOSED on Tuesday, July 9 and Wednesday, July 10, 2024. All district functions and events are canceled. We will notify the community on Thursday, July 11 at a later date.

Conroe Independent School District

Due to the impact of Hurricane Beryl, Conroe ISD offices, campuses and summer programs will continue to be closed on Tuesday, July 9. This will allow staff time to safely assess their homes and allow utility companies time to restore power.

At this time, the Board of Directors workshop scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9 will take place as scheduled. Updates will be shared on the district website.

Crosby Independent School District

Due to the impacts of Hurricane Beryl, Crosby ISD will remain closed on Tuesday, July 9. All student and athletic activities are canceled.

Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District

All CFISD schools and facilities will be closed again on Tuesday, July 9 due to widespread power outages and debris on the roads. Thank you for your patience as CFISD and the entire Cy-Fair community continue to recover from Hurricane Beryl. Stay safe!

Fort Bend County Jury Duties

Due to the impact of Hurricane Beryl, jury service scheduled for July 9, 2024 at the Fort Bend County Justice Center has been canceled.

Galena Park Independent School District

Due to the number of homes and district facilities without power, Galena Park ISD campuses and district offices will remain closed on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. All students and employees should stay home. Maintenance workers, groundskeepers, and custodians should contact their supervisors. We encourage everyone to prioritize their safety and exercise caution when traveling.

Galveston Independent School District

The District will remain closed tomorrow, Tuesday, July 9, as we continue to survey and assess the damage caused by Hurricane Beryl. Employees scheduled to report to work tomorrow will be contacted directly by their supervisors. Please continue to monitor emails, text messages and social media for further updates.

Harris County Courts

Harris County Criminal and Civil Courts will remain closed on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 due to the ongoing effects of Hurricane Beryl. All cases scheduled for Tuesday will be rescheduled. To find out your new date, contact your attorney or the court to which your case is assigned or visit the appropriate Clerk’s website

Houston Community College

Houston Community College campuses will remain closed Tuesday, July 9, to allow students and employees to recover from the effects of Hurricane Beryl.

Houston Zoo

The Houston Zoo will remain closed tomorrow, Tuesday, July 9, as we continue to clean up debris from the storm. Animals have been kept safe in their barns and overnight homes, and a dedicated group of team members continue to provide them with incredible care.

Humble ISD

Humble ISD will be CLOSED on Tuesday, July 9th while buildings are assessed and roads are cleared following the storm. Summer school graduation will be postponed to a later date, to be announced once finalized.

Lone Star College

Due to Hurricane Beryl, all Lone Star College properties and operations will remain closed (and classes will be cancelled) on Tuesday, July 9.

Spring Branch Independent School District

Due to the issues our area has been facing since Hurricane Beryl, Spring Branch ISD will remain closed tomorrow, Tuesday, July 9, 2024. All summer school programs are canceled and all facilities and offices remain closed. Essential personnel will be notified by their supervisor.

San Jacinto College

Due to the ongoing impacts of Hurricane Beryl on our region, San Jacinto College will remain closed on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, for all classes, operations and activities.

San Jacinto College Administration and the Office of Emergency Management continue to closely monitor forecasts and recovery efforts throughout the region. The San Jacinto College Police Department and facilities teams are assessing campuses as it is deemed safe to do so.

An update for Wednesday will be sent Tuesday afternoon.

Houston Institute of Veterinary Technology

Due to Beryl power issues, Vet Tech Institute Houston will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, July 9, 2024.
