Biden to meet new UK Prime Minister Starner Starmer tomorrow

US President Joe Biden will hold his first face-to-face meeting with new British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the White House on Wednesday, the White House announced on Monday.

Biden will also hold an event Thursday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy at the NATO summit in Washington this week, national security spokesman John Kirby told reporters.

Biden plans to “underscore the importance of continuing to strengthen the special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom” during his meeting with Starmer, White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement.

She said the two leaders would have the opportunity to discuss U.S.-British cooperation on a range of issues from Ukraine to the Israel-Gaza war to ensuring Iran does not obtain nuclear weapons and countering threats to commercial shipping from the Iran-backed Houthis.

The leaders will also discuss deepening cooperation in areas such as protecting advanced technologies and developing clean climate and energy solutions.
